Chapters 16-20

Chapter 16: Derek drew the revolver and fired all six shots. Five of them were headshots, killing the zombies instantly. The last hit a zombie in the neck. "Let's move!' Derek shouted. Together, him, and John carrying Jake bolted past the zombies and down the stairs. After a few minutes, they managed to find a working car. As they drove away from the town, John flicked on the radio. It was static on every channel except one, a barely audible anouncement that spoke of a military base a few miles out side of town. "We could go!" John said. "It would be perfect!" "I don't know." Derek said. "I mean, it could be a trap." Before another word was spoken, Derek slammed on the brakes. Standing in front of them in the middle of the road, was Jen. Derek slowly got out of the car. "J-Jen. How do you feel?" Jen didn't say a word, only stepped closer. Oddly, Derek did too. They were finally face to face. Jen looked as beatiful as she did in life, only a little paler. It looked as if Derek was going to do something, but Jen spoke first. "ReVeNgE!" she whispered, then sank her teeth into Derek's neck. John scremed and got out of the car. "Derek! No!" Jen relinquished her grip on Derek, than planted a kiss right on his lips. It was an odd sensation. Derek could already feel the virus taking effect, and he also tasted his own blood and flesh on Jen's tongue, and still, it tasted good. John finally did the only thing he could do.
What should John do?
A) Fire the flare gun at Jen.

That's right! This chapter was written by my good friend, CopyandPaste! He gave me some new ideas for the story, and instead of the choose ur own adventure ending, it ends on a regular old cliffhanger! This changes the series forever. Read on!
Chapter 17: The sweat settled on Casey's hands, tightly clenching his assault rifle. He slowly peered out the half-broken window, which he had knelt beside the entire night. Shell casings lay scattered all over the matted rug. Outside, he could see the terror which had struck this once peaceful city. In the distance, he could still smell the burning fuel of the downed Blackhawk. The thick, black smoke continued to carry itself higher into the bleeding sky. He could still hear the screams and wails of the uninfected outside, helpless to even save themselves. The door behind him slowly creaked open. He turned around to see Master Sergeant McNab glaring back at him. "Get up kid, Captain Bishop wants to see everybody in the living room."Casey rises from his slouched position and follows the Sergeant down the hall of the tattered apartment building. Captain Bishop turned and nodded as the two men entered the living room. The Captain stood up, turned around, and began to search the eyes of his anxious soldiers. In all, five had survived this failed special forces rescue operation. Those who hadn't died in the crash had quickly been killed by the unending swarms of undead."Look, I've called you all here because there's.....something you need to know." The Captain cleared his throat and turned his attention to a small radio on a broken nightstand. "Mack and I have been trying to reach the military base in this area for the past few hours........with a little tampering, we got this damn thing working a little." The Captain glances down at his feet, then turns his attention over to Mack. Mack senses the gesture and begins, "We managed to pick up a little radio chatter from command, and...I've got some disturbing.." Mack could feel a large lump well up in his throut and quickly looks down. The Captain steps over and puts a hand on his tenseshoulder. "Look, as the commanding officer here, it's my responsibility to keep fellows all alive. But...I'm afraid our time is almost up gentlemen. Command is bitching about a Russian missile launch somewhere in..." The Captain looks back over to Mack who replies, "Portsdown, Ukraine. The fuckers launched a shit missile." Sergeant McNab straightens his posture and barks, "What!? Where's it headed!?" "Nobody knows." the Captain replies. "But, you boys have a right to know. As far as I can tell, the commies' feel threatened by this viral outbreak crap. The North Koreans are supposedly prepping one too."The room fell in a dead silence as Captain Bishop continued to speak the disheartening news. "Look, there isn't going to be anymore military assistance in this. Our boys are fighting for there lives out there, not trying to rescue people anymore. We're screwed..."Casey eyes, wide with uncretainty, turns and asks, "So what now?" The Captain turns, looks him right in the eyes, and replies, "There's only one thing we can do now..."
What does he suggest they do?
B. Head toward the military installation in the area.

Chapter 18: Derek finally broke the kiss. He spat his own blood all over the road, and a chunk of his skin came flying out. Jen took a step forward, but was John stepped between her and Derek. "I'm sorry Jen, but this has to be done." He took aim at her and fired the flare gun. It exploded and Jen burst into flames. Derek was pale, and losing conciousness. "Come on! Get in the car!" John helped him into the passenger seat, than got in the driver seat. "We'll find you a cure Derek, don't worry!" He drove down the street, watching Jen's body slowly turn to ash in the distance. John breathed a sigh of releif, which quickly turned into a gasp of shock as he drove right into a crowd of zombies. They circled the car, and slowly got closer and closer. John gunned it, plowing down the zombies in his path. They drove back down the road untill something huge loomed in the distance. It looked like...a military installation! Soldiers! Unfortunately, it was surrounded by zombies and the gate was closing fast. John had to make a decsision.
What should he do?
A) Plow through the zombies and try to make it through the gate.

Chapter 19: Nick ran into the control room and looked out at the wreckage that was formerly his base. Bodies lay everywhere, and the zombies were still pouring in through the opened gate. Nick hit the lever and the gate started to close. He was going to turn and run back to help the surviving soldiers when he thought he heard a noise. It sounded like...a car? Then he saw it. A car driving full speed towards the closing gate. Nick grabbed the door lever and tried to stop it, but it tore from the control board. "Uh oh." The car and door were gaining speed. Finally, it reached the gate, and just as it was going under, the gate hit the middle of the car, tearing it in two. The front half flew into the base, while the back slid out, the door slamming shut in front of it. A man got out of the car and grabbed another man from the passenger seat. Some soldiers ran up to the strangers, seperating them. They took the driver to the med lab, and the other to the quarrintine room. It sounded like the driver was shouting something. "My son! Please! My son is trapped outside the gate! We have to help him! PLEASE!" The rest of his words were cut off. So his son was in the back half of the car. He couldn't let an innocent boy die, no matter how much pain he was in, Nick would save that boy. But he couldn't do it alone. He needed help.
Who should he get to help?
C) Terry (his dog)
D) A soldier

Chapter 20: John was dragged down the hall by the soldiers, kicking and fighting them the whole way. "I have to save my son! He's going to die!" They finally reached the med lab and John was led to the table and strapped down. "You've been in contact with the infected. We're going to give you a serum that will protect you against the virus." the doctor flicked the needle and went in for the shot. Another man put a hard peice of plastic in John's mouth. "Mmmph!MMMMMMPPPPPPPHHHHHHHH!" But before the injection could be administered, a soldier came into the room. "S-sir, I think you'd better see this." John didn't realize it before, but the man at his side must be a general. "Not now Greenly, I'm busy!" "But sir, there's been a launch. Several in fact. There are missles on their way here." Everyone stopped. Even John stopped struggling for a minute. "Most of the east coast is already gone sir, they don't know exactly where the outbreak is, so their bombing the whole country." "Sweet Jesus!" The general ran past the soldier, who ran in the opposite direction. The doctor still stood stock still. John, realizing that his left arm was loose, ripped the strap off and punched the doc in the face. "Now to save my son and find shelter from those missles."
Derek was thrown into a clear glass box, and was losing all of his senses. He was getting hungry again, hungry for-NO! He wan't going to turn into one of those things! Never! He had seen what had happened to Jen, and he wouldn't let himself get turned! His head was spinning, and he didn't realize that gases were pouring into the room. The world turned black, and he collapsed to the ground. Everthing was gone...
