Chapter 31: Casey, Bishop, and McNabb stepped out from the van as well. Each had their guns ready. "Looks like you could use a hand or two." Reaper said. "Or five." Scythe said. Casey reached into the van and tossed Calvin and Jake guns. "Um...I'm 15..." Jake said. "Doesn't matter kid," Bishop said. "We need all the help we can get if we want to make it out of here alive. Then, the battle started. It lasted for almost 20 minutes before something happened. The zombies split the nine fighters up. Jake, Derek, and Amy one way, McNabb and Bishop another, and Calvin, Casey, Reaper, and Scythe the last. Derek got tackled by a zombie and he thought he was done for when Amy shot it off. "You can thank me later." She helped him to his feet and them along with Jake backed into a triangle.
McNabb and Bishop had their hands full as well. Bullet after bullet hit the ground, but the zombies kept getting closer and closer. "If this is where it ends, it was an honor fighting along side you." McNabb said to his Bishop. "Same here soldier, same here."
Calvin, Casey, Reaper, and Scythe had a small square to manuvere in, and since they had the most people, they were faring the best. Zombie after zombie dropped, and Reaper and Scythe were doing most of the killing. Finally, they heard the click that meant their last magazines were empty. "Shit!" Scythe exclaimed. All three groups thought they were dead, untill they saw a huge shadow drop out of the sky and land in the battlefeild. A huge monster, almost as tall as a skyscraper, stood there. It was black with huge black wings. Hundreds of tentecles swarmed around it. It let out a roar that shattered every window that wasn't already broken. The zombies stepped away from their prey, and the nine got back into a group. The monster advanced, opened its mouth, and attacked.
